❓ Questions about Japanese Nouns

Do Japanese Nouns Have Gender?
No. Japanese nouns are not classified as masculine or feminine and do not require gendered articles.
Do Japanese Nouns Have Plural Forms?
Usually not. A word such as kuruma can mean one car or several cars; context or a number shows the quantity. The suffix -tachi can mark a group of people, as in watashi-tachi (we).
What Is the Difference Between Wago, Kango, and Gairaigo?
Wago are native Japanese words, kango come from Chinese vocabulary and are often written in kanji, and gairaigo come from other foreign languages and are usually written in katakana.
Why Are Particles Important When Learning Nouns?
Particles mark a noun’s role in a sentence, such as topic with は, subject with が, object with を, destination with に, and location of an action with で.
